On Sat., June 11 (1 p.m.), acclaimed actress, educator and historical interpreter Dr. Daisy Nelson Century will present a colorful, enlightening program conveying the significance of the Juneteenth holiday (June 19) and highlighting the life and experiences of former slave and antislavery abolitionist Harriet Tubman, who during the Civil War guided approximately 70 enslaved people to freedom in her role as a ”conductor” on the network of routes and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. Juneteenth foods will be served. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 12. Advance reservations are requested (by 6/2/22). Please call 908-709-0434.

This program is made possible in part by a 2022 HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners. The Kenilworth Education Association F.A.S.T. Committee is generously contributing food for the event.
