On Sat., January 10, 2015, the Kenilworth Historical Society will present a Rockin’ BBQ With “The King,” a fun-filled evening of great live “Elvis” music and a barbecue-style dinner, at the Kenilworth Veterans Center (33 South 21st Street) from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The event will feature award-winning “Elvis” tribute artist/singer-entertainer Jim Barone, who remarkably captures the voice, passion, style and appearance of the legendary Elvis Presley. Barone, who for many years has entertained fans throughout the United States and abroad, will present “A Tribute to Elvis Through the Years,” a live performance of favorite “Elvis” songs from the 1950s-‘70s, for listening and dancing pleasure. During the evening, a delicious and plentiful three-course chicken and ribs dinner prepared by the popular fine caterer Two Fish and Five Loaves of Union, N.J., will be served.
Admission is $50. Advance reservations (by December 27) are required. The event seating plan accommodates eight people per table. Early reservations are encouraged to ensure availability. For reservations/tickets, please call 908-709-0434 or 908-709-0391. Tickets are also being sold at Especially Yours Florist (13 North 20th Street, Kenilworth).
Barone’s performances are based on a full repertoire of Elvis Presley music and embody the passion, playful swagger, humor and complete command of the audience that “Elvis” brought to the world of music. Barone began entertaining as a teenager who excelled in musical theatre. His career as an Elvis tribute artist was launched by a simple request to perform at an Oldies Show. Through his award-winning performances worldwide, Barone has built lasting friendships and a large fan base from a mutual love of Elvis’ music.
Proceeds from the Rockin’ BBQ With “The King” will benefit the Kenilworth Historical Society’s Oswald J. Nitschke House (c. 1880) “living history” museum and cultural arts center by helping defray the cost of an elevator that makes all levels of the newly restored site fully accessible to everyone.
The Kenilworth Historical Society is an independent, volunteer-based, non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the research, preservation and interpretation of the Oswald J. Nitschke House, local history and culture.
